Update 13/10/2014
Last weekend only saw a few hours on the mini
Seats unbolted, seatbelts removed, steering wheel removed
Attempted door removal but inner wing bolts very corroded so may have to wait until front wheels off and access easier
Now need to clear inside and get out all fittings before I think about lifting the engine, dropping the subframes and tripping all the way back . . .

I've started (at last)
At last today we started!
My son got very excited as I introduced him to Barrier cream and Swarfega!
Today we have got the front and rear bumpers off, the bonnet off, number plates, the rear doors & hinges off and the rear lights:
Looking forward to trying to get the front doors off next week - looked at this briefly today but could not work it out - later read the Haynes manual and think I know how to do this. . . .

Obviously used to be a yellow clubman before someone sprayed it very badly black!
Most the Chrome is off

Starting to look a little bare!

Not yet started but look what I found
Sadly I have to confess that I have not started anything yet - but I have done lots of talking (and explaining) to friends and neighbours . . .
but look what I found tonight:

This is the plan once I have it stripped down . . . . . .

Stage 1
This weekend I will be having the mini brought back to the house - with it on the front drive it will not only annoy my wife but will also encourage me to work on it.
It has been off the road (SORN'd) and in a lock up for the last year
Initially I want to strip all the accessories off the chassis and then get to grips with how rotten them main chassis is .. .

Intro
So foolishly I purchased a Mini Van on Ebay without seeing it!
I always wanted a minivan and I needed another van for a project in 2012
So I won the auction - got the train to Rochdale, purchased the mini, drove to the post office - Taxed it and then drove back to Bracknell on only three cylinders!!
A set of HT leads later and it was running OK but not stopping - so off it went to the garage and discs where fitted on the front - rather than the original drums.
Lots of fun driving this for the first year but my toy needs lots of work.
It would appear that originally this was a club-man estate and the rear windows have had metal panels crudely welded in and then filler shaped to look like real panels!!
and the front grill and wings are not the Clubman shape:
But I am not a mini purist and just want to have some fun.
This blog is to encourage me to do some work on the mini and get it back on the road.
I will try to keep this blog up to date with my progress and thoughts . . .
